Kids' gadgets 'could push up contents cover'
New research has highlighted the need for parents to check whether the level of contents cover is sufficient after it was found that children's bedrooms now contain over £14 billion worth of goods.
According to Co-operative Insurance, the average child now has £1,260 worth of gadgets in their room, although a tenth of parents have admitted that their child's bedroom contains over £2,500 worth of the latest gadgets.
The study found that the TV is the most common electrical item to be found in a child's room.
David Neave, director of general insurance, said: "Many parents simply do not realise just how valuable the contents of their children's rooms are.
"It is important for people to regularly review the value of their home contents and if necessary increase the level of cover to ensure that it is adequate."
MoneyExpert recently stated that homeowners could save 35 per cent on their contents insurance by purchasing cover online, although it warned that cheapest does not always mean the best.
