'Most people concerned with finances in 2007'
Almost a quarter of people in Britain are more concerned about their finances this year than they are about their health, the environment or crime, says research.
A new survey by Abbey, which shows that one person in four believes money problems will pose the biggest threat to their quality of life in 2007.
According to Abbey's research just four per cent of respondents deem the environment to be their biggest concern despite constant headlines about the threat of climate change.
However, 24 per cent of people said their biggest worry was their finances.
And figures from the Citizens Advice Bureau show they may have reason to be concerned, with debt problems rising by 15 per cent at the start of this year as living expenses increase.
Sue Hayes of Abbey said: "The real concern for people is money and we are hoping that this is a signal that people are planning to get more engaged with their finances in 2007."
