Car insurance becoming eco-friendly
More car insurers are offering competitively-priced, environmentally-friendly policies to the UK's motorists, it has emerged.
According to price comparison website Moneysupermarket.com, the trend for eco-friendly products is "finally extending to car insurance" as the sale of hybrid cars increases.
Companies such as CIS eco-insurance are leading the way by offsetting a percentage of vehicle emissions through investment in education schemes, reforestation and renewable energy sources, while taking a policy with dedicated carbon neutral insurer ibuy.eco.uk will offset 100 per cent of carbon emissions.
"Many drivers are concerned about their impact on the environment and in an effort to go green have been tempted to opt for eco-friendly insurance," said Richard Mason, director of insurance at Moneysupermarket.com.
Another comparison website, Insurancewide.com, recently revealed that many drivers are spending more than they need to on motor insurance by automatically opting for third party, fire and theft cover when a fully comprehensive policy is often cheaper.
