People "financially vulnerable" after graduating
Many UK people struggle to make ends meet after finishing university due to the heavy burden of student debt and other financial pressures, it has been claimed.
The National Union of Students (NUS) has called for the government to offer more support for the country's graduates as they struggle to pay back their student borrowings while trying to get on the career and property ladders.
A spokesperson for the organisation stated that the government has begun to recognise the financial difficulties faced by graduates but has yet to do anything "particularly massive" to address the situation.
She said: "At the time when they're most financially vulnerable, they're being hit with quite a hefty payback."
Many graduates find themselves in a "perilous situation" with their money after leaving university, she added.
The NUS is also campaigning for more financial advice for students, after concerns were raised that some banks are able to take advantage of their inexperience with money.
