Phone insurance customers 'should check small print'
Mobile phone users have been advised to keep an eye on the small print when taking out an insurance policy for their handset.
According to comparison website Insurancewide.com, consumers should ensure that they know the ins and outs of their policy, as certain types of cover are likely to have some exclusions which they may not be aware of.
Chief executive of the site James Harrison also said that some people may find it more convenient to include their mobile phone in their home contents policy, although he warned that this can potentially make the claims process more drawn out.
He commented: "You can either take out insurance from your mobile phone retailer or use an insurance company and organise the insurance yourself.
"The cover will be much the same but you do need to check the small print for exclusions."
Abbey Home Insurance recently urged people to make sure that they have adequate cover in place for the contents of their bedroom, with these rooms now containing possessions worth about £4,000 on average. A personal loan can help with insurance costs.
