Drivers given insurance saving tips
Motorists have been issued with a ten-step guide to cutting the cost of insuring their vehicle by a comparison website.
Top of the list in terms of money-saving advice is shopping around for a competitive premium, as well as making sure that different policies are compared on a like-for-like basis, Insurancewide.com stated.
In addition, motorists should respect the rules of the road and keep their car secure when not driving in order to accumulate a no-claims bonus. Drivers were also advised that certain insurers offer discounts for people purchasing their policies online.
Insurancewide.com advised policy holders to pay their yearly premium in full if they can afford to, as well as stating that they should inform their insurer if their annual mileage is low.
The website's guidelines also warned younger drivers against buying large or powerful cars and emphasised the importance of being truthful with an insurer, including making sure that the firm is aware of any changes to driving circumstances, no matter how small.
According to Sainsbury's Bank, the annual cost of driving has gone up by 2.6 per cent since last year and now stands at £2,259. A personal loan can help with motoring expenses.
