Online insurance customers given warning

Motor insurance buyers have been urged to exercise caution when using aggregator websites to find a new policy.

A new report from Defaqto has warned that drivers can sometimes fail to get the best deal available when using such sites, despite their extensive marketing and pledges to cover 'the whole of the market'.

The financial research company stated that these resources often fail to accurately compare policies on anything other than price, while leading insurers are sometimes not included at all.

"People using these sites should be careful to check exactly what they are being sold," said Mike Powell, general insurance consultant at Defaqto.

"There is a long way to go before customers can be sure they are getting a totally reliable quote from the whole insurance market by using these sites," he added.

Gocompare.com recently advised motorists not to use their car for business purposes without modifying their insurance policy accordingly. A personal loan can help people to manage insurance costs.
