December 'most dangerous month for drivers'

Motorists have been urged to concentrate on driving safely on the UK's roads as December approaches.

According to moneysupermarket.com, the last month of the year is statistically the most dangerous for car owners, with the casualty rate for December 2006 being 29 per cent higher than in April of the same year.

Consequently, the price comparison website is advising motorists to keep their vehicle well maintained, take extra care when behind the wheel and make sure that their insurance policy is fully updated.

"Motorists should ready themselves and their vehicles now for the seasonal changes. Drivers should also be extra vigilant and prepared for the potential actions of less responsible road users," said Richard Mason, director of insurance at moneysupermarket.com.

He added that cold weather also brings an increased chance of vehicle breakdown.

The AA stated recently that the weeks immediately following the clock change in October are noted for a sudden increase in road accidents and personal injury claims.

Insurance costs can be made more manageable with a personal loan.
