Motor insurance to go electronic
Car owners will soon be able to receive their insurance certificates by electronic delivery, it has been announced.
Speaking at the Motor Conference of the Association of British Insurers (ABI), road safety minister Jim Fitzpatrick revealed that measures will be put into place to email certificates to consumers in the future.
Welcoming the announcement, the ABI's assistant director of property, motor and liability Justin Jacobs said that the change would bring "significant benefits for motorists".
He added: "Enabling the use of the latest technology will improve customer service and will bring insurance technology into line with other industries.
"The insurance industry will in the future be able to provide quicker, more convenient and more reliable delivery of these important documents to customers."
December is the most dangerous month for UK drivers, moneysupermarket.com stated this week, making car insurance particularly important at this time of year. Personal loans can make motoring costs more manageable.
