Holidaymakers warned over ski injuries
People planning to take a skiing trip this winter have been urged to make sure that they are fully fit before taking to the slopes.
Research from Halifax Travel Insurance has revealed that 38 per cent of winter holidaymakers were not in the right physical condition for skiing last year, with ten per cent sustaining a serious injury as a result.
The company is therefore advising Britons to both improve their fitness before strapping on the skis and take out a comprehensive travel insurance policy to cover any potential mishaps on the piste.
"A few months of pre-holiday training can help you to cope with the strain of winter sports, as well as to build up your stamina," said Paul Birkhead, senior manager of pricing and underwriting at Halifax Travel Insurance.
"Those that don't manage to train thoroughly beforehand should recognise their limits and make sure that they take regular breaks to help their body recover," he added.
According to previous research from Halifax Travel Insurance, 2.5 million Britons leave the country each year for holidays at Christmas. A personal loan can be useful for insurance and travel expenses.
