Motorists 'still not switching insurance'

A large number of UK drivers are still neglecting to shop around for the best car insurance policy, according to a new survey.

Research by TescoCompare.com found that only 32 per cent of the nation's motorists have switched insurance provider in the last year, while 11 per cent have stayed with the same company for ten years or more.

Although Brits are keen to switch deals for other services such as utilities and telecoms, the country's car owners seem reluctant to follow suit, the financial comparison company stated.

"Our research shows that there are a great proportion of motorists out there who aren't searching for the best deal for their car insurance and who are instead staying with their current car insurance provider," said Peter Dingle, managing director of TescoCompare.com.

Last week, a survey by insurance firm LV= revealed that the majority of cars on the UK's roads are dirty, with only 11 per cent of drivers cleaning their vehicles regularly.
