Mortgage holders 'may need more money'
Homeowners in the UK may find that they are short of cash in the coming months, according to the Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS).
As fixed rate mortgages come to an end and energy prices increase, people may find that they need to ensure they have enough money to tide them over, the CCCS has said.
Frances Walker, spokesperson for the counselling service, commented: "A lot of people are going to have to be finding more money for their mortgages [in 2008]."
People should also make sure they are not caught out with credit card repayments, as if people fail to pay them off they may find they end up with even more debt next year, Ms Walker added.
Poorer home owners may suffer especially, according to CCCS figures, while Credit Action statistics show that the average UK household owes £56,234.
