'Take care on the roads today'
Today (Friday January 18th) is one of the most dangerous days on the roads, according to new statistics.
Over the past 15 years, January 18th has witnessed the highest number of accidents compared to any other day of the year, according to Admiral.
The worst day of the week for accidents is Friday, the insurance company stated, as people are tired and may get caught up thinking about their weekend, rather than their driving.
Sue Longthorn, Admiral managing director, said: "In terms of the 18th January being dangerous, it's difficult to say for certain why this is.
"It could be that people have a lot on their mind as they haven't been paid for a while, the bills are coming in, it's dark, the weather's often foul and the fun of the festive period is a long and distant memory."
Other figures from Admiral show that people with more than one car make safer drivers statistically, as households with more than one car are 22 per cent less likely to be involved in an accident.
