'Reliable' sellers identified by women drivers
Television presenters Lorraine Kelly and Jeremy Paxman are the two celebrities women would trust most to sell them a car, the latest research has revealed.
According to the AA, women are more likely to trust female personalities to sell them a new car, with girls featuring higher than guys in the selection offered by the AA.
Lorraine Kelly grabbed 17 per cent of the vote, followed by Paxman (16 per cent), Paula Radcliffe (ten per cent), Carol Thatcher and Jo Brand (five per cent). Bottom of the pile was comedy incarnation Alan Partridge, with just 0.5 per cent of the vote.
"Our research started out as a bit of fun, but actually says quite a lot about the characteristics that people associate with being a trustworthy salesperson," said Mark Huggins, head of AA personal loans.
Mr Huggins added that with women now just as likely to buy a used car as men, "it makes sense" that they would look for a female seller.
Other potential salespeople towards the bottom of the list were more comedy creations, with Mr Bean and Only Fools and Horses' Derek Trotter both the preferred seller for one per cent of the women quizzed.
Earlier this month, Parker's Car Guides revealed the Mini was the slowest depreciating car in 2007.
