Bad weather ahead

Homeowners and motorists may be interested to learn that the bad weather recently experienced in the UK may get worse next month.

This weekend's forecast from the Met Office shows that snow is expected in some places, with up to 10cm of snow possibly falling in areas such as Scotland, Northern Ireland, north-west England and Wales.

Also, severe gales and heavy rain have been predicted affect the country later this week.

Frank Saunders, the Met Office's chief forecaster, said: "Damaging gusts of wind of up to 60 or 70mph could lead to local travel disruption before colder conditions arrive in time for the weekend."

Rain turned to ice recently as temperatures dropped across the UK, according to the Met Office.

People may want to make improvements to their homes and cars or give a boost to their insurance in order to protect themselves against the bad weather.
