Women do "less well with finances"
Women are less financially fit than men, according to one bank.
By not ensuring that they are getting the best rate on their mortgage, women are not performing well financially, according to research conducted by ICM for Abbey.
Around 70 per cent of women claim that they do not have savings for the next three months, meaning they would "not be able to survive in an emergency", Nici Audhlam-Gardiner, head of mortgages at Abbey, said.
Ms Audhlam-Gardiner went on to say: "I think there are a couple of underlying things. One, you could argue that maybe women have less time and they're juggling more things and so they just make less time for their finances.
"And maybe also, they're just less confident in them."
People in general are unsure about the economy, she added, as there is a possibility that the UK may move into a recession; however, she advises people to start focusing on their finances in order to prepare for the year ahead.
The financial figures of women are not bursting at the seams, however. The research showed that women were deemed 46 per cent overweight, compared to men, who were only slightly more slender at 41 per cent.
