Men take charge of moving loans and finance
When it comes to arranging loans and managing finances for a house move, women tend to be happy to sit back and let men take control.
Research carried out by Halifax Estate Agents found that 48 per cent of men in a couple will take charge and look after financial matters related to moving home.
In contrast, just 34 per cent of women like to take the lead on moving money matters. While men look after loans and finances, however, other decisions about moving are taken together.
Some 65 per cent of couples living together decide to sell up and move on as a joint decision. Only 36 per cent of couples share the financial responsibility of moving home.
"Buying a house is the biggest purchase most of us are likely to make," said Gordon Edwards from Halifax. "If you are deciding to sell your home, purchase a new property or sorting the finances for a move, it's important to involve your partner in the decision-making process."
A recent study from MoneyExpert found that the average household could save up to £547 a year by switching financial products.
