Look before you leap into marriage
Today (February 29th) is the day on which women traditionally pop the question to their loved one and many women throughout the UK intend to do so.
According to statistics from Alliance & Leicester (A&L), over a quarter of women intend to propose to the man in their life.
However, although romance is in the air "so is inflation", the building society has warned, stating that couples are expected to fall short of the amount required for a wedding by around 22 per cent.
Richard Al-Dabbagh, head of personal loans at A&L, said: "The cost of a modern wedding continues to rise, and whilst a wedding should be the most important and enjoyable day of your life, it does come with a hefty price tag attached."
Similarly, Sainsbury's Bank has claimed that wedding loans are expected to reach over £1 billion this year alone.
