Britons 'should check home insurance annually'
UK homeowners should be sure to check that their belongings are covered by home insurance at least once a year, it has been advised.
People should ensure that their insurance adequately covers their home's contents on an annual basis due to the fact that people's possessions change regularly, according to Confused.com.
The financial comparison website has emphasised the need to have insurance that represents the homeowner's needs.
Debra Williams, managing director at Confused.com, stated that people should review their property and its total value to ensure that "their possession is properly covered with a policy which is both cost effective and offers the level of protection the customer requires".
"We would advise people to make their own decisions on the level of protection they require based on their own personal circumstances," she added.
A recent report from the Treasury named Financial inclusion: an action plan for 2008-11, stated that people, especially those on low incomes or vulnerable members of society, should not be priced out of essential markets such as insurance.
