ABI recommends getting adequate home insurance cover
The Association of British Insurers (ABI) is urging people to make sure they have sufficient cover when taking out an insurance policy.
A recent survey by the ABI found that up to 1.1 million homeowners in the UK have had trouble with noisy neighbours or noise pollution and may not be covered by their home insurance policies.
The poll of 3,000 consumers found that up to a third did not have legal cover in case of a dispute; the organisation is now encouraging consumers to fully research what their policies do and do not cover.
Kelly Ostler-Coyle, spokesperson for the ABI, said: "You want to be looking properly at your policy to see what cover you have for everything and not just going on price, so if anything happens you are completely covered."
The ABI represents 400 UK insurance companies and between its membership provides 94 per cent of domestic home insurance policies in the UK.
