Streets 'no longer safe' for cars
Research carried out by the AA has found that parking in a residential street is no longer considered safe in the UK following a rise in the levels of vandalism.
The survey asked 2,000 Britons about where vandalism to their vehicles took place; it found that of all the people asked 72 per cent said their vehicle had suffered from deliberate damage at one time.
In the survey, 43 per cent of people said that the damage to their vehicle happened while parked in a residential street, 13 per cent had their car damaged while parked in a multi-storey car park and only eight per cent said their vehicle had been damaged while parked in a private driveway.
Mark Huggins, head of AA personal loans, said: "If you are paying for your car with a personal loan, the last thing you want is the added financial burden of sorting out repairs so it's worth thinking about where you park."
In related news, a study released by the AA says that the average cost of motoring in the UK has risen by 11 per cent in the last 12 months.
