Married couples 'get reduced premiums'
Many UK men could benefit from reduced car insurance premiums if only they were to get hitched, according to online price comparison site Confused.com.
Research carried out by the website has found that married men could save an average of £82.70 more on their car insurance premiums than their single counterparts.
However, men fare better than women when it comes to making savings on car insurance, as many premiums for single men are significantly higher than for single women.
Debra Williams, managing director at Confused.com, said: "Despite the old male adage that women prosper more from a marriage arrangement than their out-of-pocket husbands, our research shows that marrying a woman can in fact save men a considerable amount on their car insurance."
In related news, the BBC has reported that the owners of Confused.com, Admiral, could be considering selling the website. Analysts believe the business to be worth in the region of £600m to £700m.
